Waste Activated carbon After the adsorption is saturated, it needs to be replaced. Generally, enterprises use a large amount of activated carbon, so how to deal with these waste activated carbon

There are two ways to treat waste activated carbon: regeneration of activated carbon or treatment as hazardous waste.

High temperature regeneration method

Dehydration and drying: first, separate the activated carbon from the conveying liquid phase, then heat the activated carbon to 100~150 ℃, evaporate the water (moisture content of nearly 40%~50%) in the pores of the activated carbon, volatilize some organic matter with low boiling point, and carbonize the other part and leave it in the pores of the activated carbon. The heat required for drying is about 50% of the total energy consumption of regeneration, and the volume used accounts for 30%~40% of the total regeneration device.

The carbonization is heated to 300~700~to volatilize all organic matters with low boiling point.

The high boiling point organics are thermally decomposed, some of which become low boiling point organics to volatilize and desorb, and the other part is left in the pores of activated carbon after carbonization. The heating rate and carbonization temperature depend on the type of adsorbent.

Activation continues to be heated to 700~1000~and activated gases (such as water vapor, carbon dioxide and oxygen) are introduced into the pores of activated carbon to decompose the carbon and chemicals remaining in the pores into carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and hydrogen and other activated gases to escape, so as to achieve the purpose of re pore forming.

Cooling: the activated carbon is cooled sharply with water to prevent oxidation.

Hazardous waste disposal

The general treatment of hazardous waste is to bury the waste activated carbon and gradually degrade it over time. This method is generally limited and has certain harm to the environment, so it is not recommended.

Conclusion: In fact, it is found that although these are waste activated carbon, they can still be recycled. Although regeneration is more professional and troublesome, there is an extended solution here, that is, waste activated carbon recycling. There are specialized enterprises to recycle waste activated carbon. After recycling, they also regenerate the activated carbon through high-temperature regeneration and resell it.
